New Site Updates!

And the return of the blog

Hello! It’s been many years, but I’m here to announce that this site has been updated! It now more accurately reflects the state of 4TU as of 2025, which mostly involves removing outdated projects and adding new social media links.

I also re-read the last blog post by Quarky, which is amazing, and a masterclass in how to concisely set the tone in a first entry. I regret not having the wherewithal to write some follow-up posts in between then and now.

As for 4TU itself, most of the focus these last few years has been on keeping HBAS alive, and its homebrew repositories maintained. From a development perspective, it’s an on-and-off again side project. From a user perspective though, HBAS is currently serving 6TB+ of packages a month through its CDN repos!

In the near future, I’d like to write some blog posts describing design or architectural decisions made, and challenges faced in keeping the project running smoothly. BrowseDNS has also branched out and “become its own thing”, so that would be a fun topic to cover as well.

That all being said, I don’t have any grandiose plans for ‘a revival’ outside of ensuring HBAS is maintained or sharing personal dev notes here. The song “Everything Stays” resonates with my feelings: you can put a lot of effort and love into something, leave it, and then watch how it both does and doesn’t change over time when you come back to it.

Moose out! (I say that, that’s a thing I say)
